
College ProgramsCollege Relations - AISES currently has over 160 college chapters nationwide, including 23 Tribal Colleges. Over the past year, AISES headquarters has undergone a comprehensive initiative to collect in-depth information from its constituent chapters, as has also implemented a streamlined process for new chapter applications. Over the past three years, AISES has gained seven new chapters. Student Representatives - AISES college chapters are divided into seven regions, with a Regional Student Representative for each region. Alaska is in Region 1; Canada is split among Regions 1, 5 and 6; Hawaii is part of Region 2; the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is within Region 5. The National Student Representatives coordinate with the Regional Representatives. The National Student Representatives are non-voting members of the Board of Directors. Scholarships – AISES administers 5 distinct scholarships, in partnership with various organizations, as well as its own memorial scholarship. AISES scholarships are intended to supplement the unmet financial needs of qualified American Indian students pursuing degrees in science, engineering, and technology. The scholarship programs were created to assure that deserving American Indian students could actively pursue higher education. Learn more through the FAQs. Internships - AISES provides opportunities for college students to intern at a variety of agencies. Placements are made in several locations, including Washington, D.C. and Atlanta, GA as well as regional placements across the nation and some areas of Canada. Some international placements are available. In the past few years, this program has expanded in scope and numbers of students gaining hands-on experience doing work that is closely related to their field of study and major. |
