Who Can Be a Member of AISES?
Membership is open to everyone who wishes to participate in the AISES family and programs.

Members are first classified as "General" or "Associate" based on the information provided on their Membership Application.

Members are then further classified as either a Professional, College Student, and Sequoyah (when applicable).

Membership is an important element for the AISES organization. All AISES members receive mailings regarding conferences and other announcements, as well as the Winds of Change Magazine. Membership in AISES is also a prerequisite for those applying for AISES scholarships and internships.

Who are General (Voting) Members?
General members are American Indians with a bachelor's or advanced degree in engineering or science.

Who are Associate (Non-Voting) Members?
Associate membership is granted to any individual who does not meet the criteria for general membership as described above.

How Much Are the Membership Dues?

• Professional Members
  Professional membership is $65/year. Professionals can be either Associate or General members.
• College Students
  College membership is $25/year. Any college student may be a student member of AISES. Generally, most college students are classified as Associate members. However, a college student who meets the eligibility criteria for General membership may be a voting member of AISES.
• Sequoyah Fellowships
  In recognition of their gift of $1,000 or more, Sequoyah Fellows are lifetime members of AISES. Many companies match employee donations; this makes the attainment of Sequoyah status relatively easy. Sequoyahs are issued a medallion which they proudly wear at AISES functions, including the Sequoyah breakfast at the National Conference.

What is netServices?
AISES, has been working to develop a comprehensive database to meet the growing needs of the AISES organization. This database development has been a monumental undertaking as we have attempted to preserve historical membership information. The new database is being used for all programs within the organization. The new database is able to track individual membership throughout each member's educational and professional career. The database maintains all membership demographic and mailing information as well as educational information (school, major, degrees earned etc.), tribal affiliations, and AISES membership classifications.

Each AISES member is assigned a unique member ID and password. The unique member ID is a combination of the member’s birth-month, birth-day, social security number (last four digits), gender, and an “AISES animal.”

The member ID will be used to uniquely identify each person within the organization. In order to use our online member services, you will need to have your personal AISES member ID and password. To obtain your member ID and password, please send an e-mail to the AISES Membership Coordinator, at: membership@aises.org. Your e-mail message should include your full name, date of birth, last four digits of your social security number, and gender. Your member ID and password will be sent to you via e-mail.*

* New AISES members will need to first complete an Online Membership Application or complete and mail in a completed application form along with the appropriate membership dues. Once your membership application and dues have been received and processed, you will be issued a member ID and password.

If you know your member ID and password, you may access AISES netServices now! You can access your personal database record and update your mailing address, telephone numbers, e-mail address, as well as change your password. The new database is a first step in improving services to our members. It will help improve our ability to effectively communicate with our members and provide additional online services. We encourage each member of AISES to get your member ID and update your contact information using the web update form. We will be using the database to provide important program announcements and general information to our members. Help us provide better services to you by keeping your contact information current.

We would also like to invite all those former members of AISES to get their member ID and update their personal record too! We would like to hear where you are now and what you’re doing.

What is the Membership Cycle?
Effective November 2002, the AISES Board of Directors changed the membership cycle from a calendar year to a cycle that begins on August 1 and ends on July 31 of the following year.

What are K-12 Affiliated Schools?
K-12 Affiliated School Membership is exclusively for K-12 schools, tribal groups and other educational organizations targeting K-12 students. This category allows teachers, counselors and administrators to keep up with AISES activities and deadlines for: science fair entries, summer programs, teacher workshops, scholarships, etc. They receive all AISES mailings, newsletters and Winds of Change.

Affiliated Schools: Please note that in lieu of individual membership, AISES K-12 students become members through the Affiliated Schools Program. K-12 students need a sponsor from their school/community or organization. Questions regarding membership for K-12 Affiliate Schools can be directed to membership@aises.org. Those interested in establishing an Affiliated Schools or renewing their Affiliated School membership should visit the K-12 Affiliated Chapters Program.
